Effective September 27, 2004, HTTP support for Hotmail and MSN accounts was discontinued. At this time, only new subscribers or accounts that never used HTTP access are affected. Accounts that use the HTTP protocol will continue to have access until Spring 2005.
Users who paid for Hotmail plus or have MSN subscriptions are not affected by this decision, they will continue to have HTTP access.
Several third party programs are available that will allow you to use any POP3 client with Hotmail. For a list, see http://www.slipstick.com/addins/services/online.htm#hotmaill
