Is it possible to display the Status of a Task as an icon in the To-Do bar? I would like to mark tasks that are currently "Deferred" or "Waiting on someone else", so that one can immediately recognize their Status. Sure. Create a custom view and apply automatic formatting to the status levels. Or you can add the status fields to the view. Conditional Formatting Click on Arranged By in the Task pad and choose View Settings from the menu. (In Outlook 2007, choose Customize from the menu) Click the Conditional format button and create formatting rules for the Status field. Go to the Advanced tab and type Status in the Field field, then select the condition and value. Create a conditional formatting rule for each status you want to highlight. The messages contained in the folder won't be editable in Outlook because Outlook sees the messages as sent messages, not drafts. Moving the draft messages to Outlook's local drafts folder won't make a difference: Outlook still sees it as a message that was already sent. You can go into Edit message mode but the Send button will be missing. The solution? Open the message and use Actions > Resend Message command. If you save a message opened using Resend message command as a draft, it will go into Outlook's local Drafts folder, not the IMAP drafts, as this is the folder Outlook uses for it's drafts. Once the message is sent, you'll need to delete the draft message from the IMAP account's Drafts folder. Published February 7 2012

I recently was upgraded to Outlook 2010. When I wanted to print a calendar in Outlook, I clicked in the date box and a small calendar would pop up to select the dates from. This has disappeared in Outlook 2010, and now you must remember what dates you want to start and end (I usually print one month out in Calendar Details Style, say from one Wed to another Wed 4 weeks out). Do you know if there is a fix that Microsoft has created for this? I've not found anything on any searches I've done. I now have to keep a little calendar on my desk, so that I can remember which dates to start and end. As you've noticed, the date picker is gone from the Print Range field, but not all is lost. You can use date shortcuts in the field. I haven't tested all of the shortcuts that work in other date fields, but week (or w for short) will work. If you know the start date, type it in then type 4w or 4 weeks in the end [...]

When we forward appointments to another employee, the employee receives a vcalendar attachment that opens as a Calendar entry on their copy of Outlook. When we send it to someone using POP3 email, the attachment is simply a forwarded email message, with the vcalendar text as the email body. When the POP3 users forwards appointments to us, calendar entry, it arrives as a proper appointment. Is this an Outlook configuration issue, or an issue of Exchange vs POP3 message processing? It's a little of both, but we'll start by blaming Outlook because you can usually prevent problems by changing Outlook's configuration. When you forward an appointment in Outlook's native format, the message is in RTF format. Outlook's default is to convert RTF to HTML when sending to an Internet address plus the Exchange server can be configured to never send RTF to the Internet (it converts them to HTML). Either of those settings can make meetings and forwarded appointments (and other Outlook items) not work as expected when sent to an Internet address. The easiest fixes are on the user side: When forwarding an appointment [...]
