The
How To section of Outlook Tips will show you how to use
many of the features in Outlook and attempts to explain the reasoning behind
some of the features.
You can learn how to use start up switches to start Outlook in specific folders, how to delete messages stuck in your Outbox, or using Outlook Spy to peek inside your *.pst file and delete read receipts that won't send using the current configuration.
If you don't like the views in Outlook, we'll show you how to create new custom views in Create a Custom View. You can disable the disable the default "group by" view in Outlook 2003 or apply the steps to changing the default views in any version of Outlook.
Learn how to create a new profile and use your existing data store with it (Importing pst is BAD!). If you rebuild your computer often or use multiple computers, you use the Custom Installation wizard to create an Outlook Profile file (*.PRF) to help you recreate your profile easily. You can even edit the *.prf files using Notepad to add new accounts: Adding Internet Mail accounts to a PRF.
For those using an older version of Outlook and missing the holidays for 2008 and beyond, you'll need to download one of the updated holidays files from Missing Holidays. Those who upgraded from an older version to Outlook 2007 just need to add the updated holidays included in Outlook 2007 using Tools, Options, Calendar Options, Add Holidays.
