Tip 799: Reminder Times

“How do you change the default reminder time in Outlook from 4pm to a more reasonable time like 8am?”

The default reminder time for tasks depends on when the task is created and due – tasks created (or flagged) for Today will always default to the reminder at 1 hour before the end of the working day.  Tasks due in the future will use the reminder setting in the Tools, Options dialog (or File, Tasks in Outlook 2010).

Also note how the Reminder dialog behaves: the reminder goes off at the set time but the reminder dialog may say its not ‘due’ until the end of the day (Outlook 2007 & 2010):
