The June 2014 PU (product update) is causing Outlook to crash for some users. While we wait for an update to address this problem, affected users should roll back to the May PU.
First, you need to disable updates. If you don't disable updates, the June PU will be reinstalled. It's recommended that you create an appointment to remind yourself to check for updates manually in about 30 days or so.
To disable updates, open Outlook. If Outlook won't open, you can disable updates in Word instead.
Click File, and then click Office Account (Outlook) or Account (other Office applications).
In the Product Information column, click Update Options, and then click Disable Updates.
Next, you need to open a command prompt with elevated permissions.
In Windows 8, type cmd on the start screen then right click on it and choose Run as Administrator. In Windows 7, open the start menu and type cmd in the Start Search field. Right click on cmd and choose Run as Administrator.
If you're using 32-bit version of Windows, type or paste the following at the command prompt.
cd %programfiles%\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX86
If you are using a 64-bit version of Windows, use this command instead:
cd %programfiles%\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64
Type or paste the following command at the prompt and press Enter to revert to the May 2014 PU:
officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=15.0.4615.1002
These steps will work with future updates to Office 2013, but the version number will vary (obviously).
