Tip 969: Can I make 'this week' the first week of the monthly calendar?

The following is a very popular request from users, especially towards the end of month:

I'd like to change the default monthly view in Outlook to show this week and 4 future weeks. Currently it shows the current week and the prior four. Does anyone want to view past weeks more than they do future weeks? It seems like an odd default.

While it may seem odd in the digital world, Outlook's monthly view is the traditional monthly view for calendars. Paper calendars don't keep "this week" at the top of the page and Outlook mimics paper calendars.

Unfortunately, Outlook doesn't have a view that keeps "this week" at the top of the screen. You can select 2 – 6 weeks in the navigation calendar, beginning with this week or use the scroll bar to move the week to the top. However, neither method creates a persistent view so you'll need to adjust the calendar each time you come back to it.

The week containing today is on the top row
