Tip 350: Missing Export Menu

Eric asks:

I'm trying to find out how to export my calendar in an excel format. Right now I have to transcribe everything from the Outlook calendar to excel. Is there an easier way?

Use the File, Import Export menu to export Outlook itemsHmmm… it sounds like you are missing the File, Import and Export command.

This is a common problem with BCM and possibly other add-ins. (I don't know why, although I'm guessing it's possibly caused by adding the BCM Export menu to the Import/Export options.)

You can either reset the Menu bar or customize the toolbars and add it back.

Use the Customize dialog to reset the menuTo reset the toolbar:

  1. Right-click on the toolbar and choose Customize.
  2. Select the Toolbars tab.
  3. Select Menu Bar from the list and click Reset.

If you don't want to Reset the toolbar, switch to the Commands tab and locate the Import and Export command (under the File category). Drag it to the File menu.

If you use Outlook Live's version of Outlook, the Export menu is present but it doesn't work. (Update: the Outlook Live program was discontinued.)
