Tip 626: Calendar tips

One of my favorite Calendar tricks is viewing just 2 or 3 weeks so I can see more appointments in each date cell. To do this, select 2 or more weeks in the navigation calendar. (See View a Two Week Calendar if you need to see screenshots or video.)

You can use this trick if you need to review a certain time period, such as the end of the month, over several months – just click the Next Month arrows (left and right arrows to the left of the month name at the top of the calendar). This will move the calendar ahead to show a similar period in the next month (or back to show previous months.) Or use the scroll bar (or arrow keys) to move up or down 1 week at a time.

Outlook 2007 and 2010

You can Ctrl+ click on dates in the navigation calendar and select up to 14 days. The Next month arrows will move the first selection to the day after the last (i.e., select 11, 20, 29 and Next Month will move the selection 30, 9, 18)

Click and drag across a few dates and the Next month moves you ahead by that many days – for example, select 1,2,3 and Next month button moves you to 4,5, 6. (Use the arrow keys to move to 2,3,4.)
