Tip 478: Contacts Instant Search

Do you have a problem with Outlook 2007 and using instant search on the Contact folder but not finding information in the notes field or other common fields?

The problem isn’t that Instant Search doesn’t search those fields (it does), only that there is something wrong with the search index. In some cases, the only results that are returned belong to recently saved contacts.

To fix this you need to rebuild the search index. Go to the Control Panel, System and Maintenance category, Indexing Options. From the Indexing options dialog, choose Advanced, then Rebuild. If you don’t have time to wait for the index to rebuild, use Advanced Find.
