Tip 183: Sort Messages by Deleted Date in Exchange mailboxes

This tip works with Exchange server mailboxes and Outlook.com (EAS) accounts. It will not work with PST files or IMAP data files.

Do you want to sort your Deleted Items folder by the date deleted? You'll need to add the Modified Date field to the view.

  1. Right click on the row of field names and choose Customize current view.
  2. Click the Fields button.
  3. Select Date and Time fields from the drop down and select Modified date, then click the Add –> button.
  4. Ok your way back out to Outlook and click on the modified field to sort your deleted items.

For best results with Outlook 2003 and above, you'll want to turn off the preview pane to display the messages on a single row.
