Tip 390: Outlook and Vista

Thinking about upgrading to Vista? Don't, unless you plan to use either Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007. Outlook 2002 doesn't save passwords; Outlook 2000 only works in Corporate, not Internet Only mode, and brings up the Start up dialog each time it starts up. If you're in the habit of never closing Outlook unless you reboot and never reboot, it's not too annoying. :)  Because Outlook 2000 and 2002 are out of mainstream support, don't look for patches to fix this and other issues that may come up.

If you only use Outlook because it has a calendar, it's worth trying Vista's mail and calendar utilities, especially if you use an older version of Outlook.
