Tip 399: Outlook Printing

As mentioned in Wednesday's tip, print preview doesn't work for HTML messages. (I neglected to mention the question specifically mentioned Outlook 2003.)

Anyone who likes using print preview will be happy to know it works in Outlook 2007.

This is because Outlook 2007 uses Word's HTML rendering engine not IE's. On a negative note, this means you're stuck with Outlook's poor printing options for all message formats.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I could live without print preview on HTML messages and preferred the better printing options available with HTML formatted messages. Truth be told, printing options for Outlook 2007 is the worst of any version. At least with previous versions you could hit forward to use Word's print options or convert a message to HTML to get IE's. Either workaround was better than Outlook's.
