Its been a few years since I last covered Reading layout and it’s time for an update.
An Office user asks: “All e-mailed docs open up in Reading Layout (two page views). Is there a setting in Word or Outlook to change the default to Normal view?”
Sure. In Office 2003, open Word's Tools, Options, General tab and uncheck the option to start with the reading layout.
In Office 2007, click the View options button in the upper right while in reading view and choose the first item on the menu “Don’t open attachments in full screen.” Or to change it at any time, go to the Office orb (formerly known as File menu) and click the Word options button at the bottom of the dialog. Look for “Open e-mail attachments in Full Screen Reading view” on the Popular tab.
