Tip 758: Personal folders backup for Outlook 2010

Users can enable the Personal Folders Backup tool in Outlook 2010 by editing a registry key.

 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Microsoft.OutlookBackup.1
 DWORD: RequireShutdownNotification
 Value: 1

If you don't want to edit the registry, we have a registry file you can download and run.

RequireShutdownNotification.reg

To use, right click on it and choose Save Target. Open the download folder and double click on the red file to run it.

Note that the default pst location for new profiles is in the My Documents folders, making it easy to copy the personal folders without using the backup tool.
