Tip 807: Change assigned task due date

A user presented this scenario and question:

Manager assigns a task due tomorrow. Employee accepts the task, but wants to change the due date to next week to let their manager know they can complete the task, but not as fast as the manager wants. Can the employee change the due date on his task and on the managers copy?

Yes, if the boss requested updates, the employee can change the due date and update the boss’s copy of the task.

If the employee makes the change at the time of acceptance, he selects the option to edit the response right after accepting it. He changes the date (and adds a note to the boss letting him know he changed it).

Once the task is accepted, he can open the task, edit it and then send an update.

The Manager who assigned the task cannot update once the task is accepted. As soon as it is accepted, the manager no longer owns it.  He'd need to ask the person who accepted the task to update the due date.
