Tip 988: View a Sender's Free/Busy in Outlook

Can you view someone's calendar from an email you have received? Currently, I switch to Calendar view and then open up their calendar. Is there an easier way?

Sure, there is an easier way. Right click on the sender's name (or any recipient) and choose Schedule a Meeting. This opens a Meeting Request to the Scheduling Assistant page, with the selected person's address and Free/Busy filled in. Close the form without saving changes when you are finished.

Check a sender's Free/Busy

Reply with meeting iconIn Outlook 2010 and up, Schedule a Meeting is on the hover card, or you can use "Reply with Meeting" on the ribbon. When you use Reply with Meeting (Ctrl+Alt+R), you can check the Free/Busy of all person's the message was sent to.

To open the hover card, slide the cursor over over the address in the message header (or right click on it), then expand either the Options icon or expand the contact card (using the expand button on the far right) then click Schedule a meeting. When you do this, it opens a meeting request form to the Scheduling Assistant, with the sender's address filled in.
