I sometimes get requests for help writing macros from users looking to solve a common problem. In some cases, the macro is fairly simple to write and I think "why did I wait so long to solve this problem?" Today's tip is one such macro.
Anyone who sends out meeting requests and has to follow up with people who haven't yet responded will appreciate this tip: an Outlook macro that gets the addresses of people who haven't responded and creates an email, ready to edit and send.
This macro is a tweaked version of a macro that Sue Mosher (retired Outlook guru) updated about ten years ago, which was based on a macro she wrote in 1999! The original macro creates a Word document listing the meeting details, attendees and their responses.
My tweak gets the meeting details and only the addresses that have not yet responded and creates a new message using this information. If you want to send a message only to the addresses that accepted (or declined or are tentative), you need to change one number in the code.
I tested the code with Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013, but it should work in older versions as well. In Outlook 2013, you need to open the meeting request before running the macro, while in older versions you can select a meeting or open it before running the macro.
Get the code: Send an email to attendees who have not responded.
